03 day of surgery
On the day of surgery please remember to bring a few important items with you. This includes: a photo ID, insurance card (if applicable), and your responsible adult companion that was described earlier. If you have a list of medications or herbal supplements that you take on a regular basis, you should bring that with you as well. Once you are admitted you will have a locker assigned to you where you can lock up any personal belongings you may have. We ask that you do not bring any valuables or jewelry with you the day of surgery.
During the admitting phase of the surgical process you will meet with several people, many of whom will ask you the same questions-over and over again. No worries, this is simply for your protection! A team that consists of your surgeon, anesthesiologist, and several nurses will make sure that you are ready for surgery and they will be happy to answer any questions you may have at that time. Once the admitting phase is complete, you will be escorted to the surgical suite with one of our pleasant operating room nurses. They will ensure your safety and privacy during the entire surgical process. After surgery is completed you will be brought into the Recovery Room where you will stay until everyone agrees (including yourself) that you are ready to go home. Our Recovery Room nurses will go over discharge instructions with you and your companion, and answer any questions or concerns at that time.
